First let me set some basic information straight.
What is ASMR?
ASMR stands for Autonomous sensory meridian response.
In layman terms, ASMR is the tingling sensation of pleasure that you’d feel in the scalp or the back of the neck when hearing some sounds. The sound could be of people whispering, paper tearing, or even scalp massages.
Ad makers have often tried to tap into this weird phenomenon in humans to be able to make a deeper impression on the audience’s minds. So, in today’s post, let’s look at some ASMR ad examples. Not all of them are my favourite, but let me just say Zoe Kravitz takes the cake in the Michelob Ultra ad.
Michelob Ultra, Pure Gold, With Zoe Kravitz
You and I will have a very different opinion if you did not like the ad after watching it. I loved every bit of this ad. The sounds of nature, combined with Zoe Kravitz delivering the perfect monologue in whispers, along with the connect with the product features. There is nothing in this ad to dislike. For the most part, I had a lasting impression of the product and ended up with a desire to have it when I see it.
Virgin Atlantic ASMR
This is another superb advert by Virgin Atlantic. I might have a certain bias due to the reference to travel, but hey, who doesn’t?
They have a great voice over, and the perfect sounds that remind the viewer of the travel notes on the airplane, that familiar feeling of happiness while embarking on a vacation to a distant land where there are no worries and only pleasant memories to be made.
Audi R8 GT ASMR
Well, I am not much of a car buff, but even I cannot resist the looks of a beautiful new vehicle with its perfect features. The ad highlights the sounds of the various parts of the car, enticing the audience with a near first hand experience.
Nescafe Gold ASMR
Of late coffee has been my preferred drink over tea. And this ad could almost smell like the fresh brew of coffee. Sound has its ways of triggering something in the brain that helps extrapolate the other senses. The visuals of the fresh coffee, the sounds of the beans, they have the right impact on the mind.
Ritz crackers ASMR
The ad opens up with the experience of picking up and opening a fresh pack of Ritz Crackers and the sound of the breaking of the biscuits and the crunches while chewing sends the audience to a world imagining themselves consuming this.
Somehow I felt that the ASMR ads with beverages had more impact than there others. I think the ASMR sounds are supposed to trigger the imagination and lead the other senses to desire for the product as well. So, these are some of the ASMR ads I could find today.
Let me know in the comments which one is your favourite. And like I said before, if you say Michelob Ultra with Zoe Kravitz, we can safely say together that great minds think alike. lol.
