Lloyd Bank’s “Best Grandparents”: Cute, To the point, Utilises Consumer Insights

Lloyd's bank best grandparents

Lloyd Bank’s “Best Grandparents” is cute, to the point and utilizes consumer insights. In straight words, this advert is exactly how commercials should be made.

Let’s take a look.

The ad starts with a huge family gathering in a restaurant near the beach, on a holiday. Soon the bill drops in and the grandparents pay the food bill (with their Lloyd card). As the ad progresses, more and more bills keep popping up and the grandparents graciously keep paying, while nobody else offers to take care of it for them.

They look a bit stressed as the amount piles up throughout the day. Obviously they would be. They are probably retired and living on limited savings. But they can’t say no.

Anyway, as they take the flight back, the tech savvy grandmother smartly pulls up the Lloyd bank app and uses a new feature “Link Pay” they have introduced to request for payments. The rest of the family starts getting alerts to pay back the grandparents.

I think this is an example of a great advert execution. They used an insight of people being uncomfortable to ask back for payments and developed a feature in their app to do that. And the narrative in the advert captured everything perfectly. The product is featured in an ample manner throughout and the viewer is unlikely to get bored as the visuals are interesting and the actors are good.

Overall, a nice memorable advert that caught my eye today.
