I love Bingo Mad Angles. Ever since I took the first bite of the Bingo Achari Masti, I placed this brand at the top of my favourite snack brand list, way above Uncle Chips and Lays.
Not only their taste, I find the brand adverts also to be top notch. They speak funny, crazy and definitely different.
In this post, I am going to share 15 of the best Bingo adverts all throughout these years across their categories (Mad Angles, Chips, Fillos and Tangles). It is my personal opinion based on certain aspects like: humour, creativity, product memorability and relevance. So, lets take a dive:
Number 15: Bingo! Mad Angles – Chef
At the 15th position is the Chef advert. For me, this ad scores high on the craziness side of the scoreboard. The ad beginning has no connection to the end: the majority of the advert is spent explaining how to cook, only to later dispose off everything into the dustbin and instead just enjoy the Bingo! Mad Angles. That’s what sticks to my mind and makes this ad memorable. One can’t justify taste with a long detailed cooking process. End of the day taste wins.
Number 14: Bingo! Mad Angles – Pregnancy
Indian movies have often associated the craving for sweet and sour foods with pregnancy. Using this long held movie tradition, Bingo! goes on to prove via this advert that a woman is pregnant because she likes the Bingo! Mad Angles Achari Masti. And then to put the cherry on top, they bring in the sarcastic humour. It turns out men also like the taste of this product and hence it is proven that those men are also pregnant. I find it hilarious! (Come to think of it, my mouth is watering too thinking about the Achari Masti flavour).
Number 13: Bingo! Chips – Crunch Test
In continuation of their crazy scientist advert, this one tells the story of how their scientists proved that Bingo! has the crunchiest chips by doing some hardcore tests. The ad not only contains humour but also the same craziness that Mad Angles promises.
Number 12: Bingo! Chips – Mummy Advert
What I like about this ad is how it captures the hilarity of Hindi dubbing in Hollywood movies. This ad is a dig at the Hindi dub of the Mummy movie and it associates the core message of the advert perfectly: which is to introduce the international flavours for its chips category. It is funny how the dialogues have been crafted and delivered.
Number 11: Bingo! Mad Angles Glad Bangles
When I saw this ad, I had to check the link again. Did I click on the wrong link? This ad starts like it is a QVC commercial, with a foreign woman selling something: Glad Bangles. But Lo and Behold! the magic of Bingo! Mad Angles! The ad beautifully transforms into a chips advert. I will never forget this twist in the advert.
Number 10: Bingo! Mad Angles – Rockstar
In colleges, there are the cool dudes, and there are a lot of wannabes. This ad is about one particular wannabe fellow who wants to look like a rockstar. But it turns out only Mad Angles can make you a rockstar.
What I like most about this advert is the scene in which the wannabe guy gets pigeons to work on his hair for that look. That one is hilarious.
Number 9: Bingo! Mad Angles – Fillos
Another mummy themed advert which hinges on the concept of filling. It is simple and easy to understand and therefore gets the message right across, laced with ample taste of humour.
Number 8: Bingo! Mad Angles – Which angle is more mmmmmm?
The Arnab Goswami type anchor got me in the first few seconds. I was sold that this ad must be in the list after the first few seconds. In today’s media scene, this guy Arnab has become ubiquitous with his incessant uncivilised shouting and there is no missing that mimicry in this advert.
Number 7: Bingo! Mad Angles – Ranveer Singh Courtroom
The most favourite moment in this advert for me is the part where Ranveer Singh gets caught with a wrong answer. If I own this brand, this is music to my ears that a consumer must say mmmmmm to the taste of my chips and cannot utter any other sound other than that.
Number 6: Bingo! Mad Angles Compass Baba
Bingo! creative team has this special talent of finding Indian idiosyncrasies and weaving a Bingo! Mad Angles story out of it. I love many parts of this advert including the depiction of the Yogi baba who has all the answers except to the question of which angle is the best. Also, when he says is prashna ka Uttar Uttar mein hai..
Number 5: Bingo! Tangles – Bus on a Cliff
When an advert becomes so dramatic, it gains a lot of recall. I am not sure if this product succeeded in the market, but this ad definitely was a hit. The comical scenes start right from the beginning and they keep it coming till the end. The particular scene which I find hilarious was the one where the bus driver begins dropping his personal belongings to reduce the weight near his end of the bus. As he begins disposing things one by one, when he drops his wife’s photo, the weight balance improves significantly. This scene lives rent free in my head.
Number 4: Bingo! Mad Angles – Board Room
Oh how I love this advert! I think because it is relevant for me too.
I remember my early days as a marketing executive, working with creative agencies. I used to finalise some things at my end and present to my bosses and then after nice presentation explaining the creative direction, they would say “Mazaa nahi aaya, kuch our dikhao”.
This board room scene reminds me of how every angle is sometimes the same and it really doesn’t matter which angle is chosen when the results are going to be the identical, but bosses being bosses, they need to give their verdict and make their teams work extra harder.
Number 3: Bingo! Mad Angles – Crazy Eye Doctor’s Vision Test
This ad does not make sense. And that’s what Bingo! Mad Angles is all about. This ad is perfect in every way! I would have ranked it number 1 but I think the other ads scored higher on the creativity side of the table.
Number 2: Bingo! Chips – Filmi action in office
What I love about this advert is that it keeps me gripped till the end. The story moves on only when the main character bites the chips. It is funny and extremely creative.
Number 1: Bingo! Mad Angles – Khul ja Sim Sim
The numero uno advert in my list is the Ali baba adaptation. I think this is one of the first adverts by Bingo! In its early days, this advert stamped the brand into my brain. The unmistakable Ali baba reference and the creativity of the Chips opening the cave’s mouth and the humorous tone of the advert, this remains my number 1 Bingo! advert of all time.
